 KSE Longboat
Craft: Kuat Systems Engineering Longboat-class Star Yacht
 Type: Yacht
 Era: Old Republic
 Year Introduced: c.41 BBY
 Affiliation: General
Source: My overactive imagination & a curious sliver of a bar of soap
 Scale: Starfighter

Skill: {Skill}: Space transports; Longboat-class Star Yacht
 Crew: 3-5, gunners: #; skeleton: 1/+
Crew Skill: Varies widely; an experienced crew has relevant skills at 3D or better.
 Passengers: 20-31
 Cargo Capacity: 225 metric tons
Cost: 675,000 credits (new), 330,000 credits (used)
 Consumables: 3 months
 Hyperdrive Multiplier: x1
 Backup Hyperdrive: x20
 Nav Computer: Yes
 Maneuverability: 1D
 Space: 7
 Atmosphere Speed: 350; 1,000 kmh
 Hull: 3D
 Shields: 3D
 Sensors:
 --Passive: 15/0D
 --Scan: 30/1D
 --Search: 45/2D
 --Focus: 4/3D
 Weapons: None
 Hangar Bays:
 __Starship Complement:
 __Support Complement:
 __Ground Assault Complement:

Game Notes: Cargo & consumables are stored on the two lower decks.
The cargo area could be divided into three large holds, six medium holds or nine small holds. Common modifications included converting cargo space to a dedicated garage for smaller leisure craft and/or a small hangar. For longer voyages many used the cargo areas for more consumables. Whatever portion of cargo capacity sacrificed, increase the Consumables by the same proportion. So giving up half the cargo capacity you get another 1.5 months.
The robust reactor has enough extra power to support the addition of several light autoblasters or a few quad laser cannons.

Capsule: Built to compete with designer yachts from more prestigious ship builders, the Longboat enjoyed great success in its early years, profits made the design team rich even as it funded bigger & better yachts' R&D. Sadly sales dropped off sharply 33-31 BBY, forcing consolidation of production of all KSE yacht lines to a single facility, each yacht was built to order from 29 BBY to 23 ABY.
Nicknamed the SILVER BULLET by spacers, the PR teams adopted it in ad campaigns & promotional literature.
The Longboat has six decks, with a selection of internal layouts to choose from when ordering. Bi- and Tri-level lounges and lofts were most popular options, as were ballrooms. The luxury suites dominate the top three decks, with deck 4 being crew & engineering, decks 5 & 6 reserved for cargo & consumables.
Initially offered in Silver, Electrum and Gold, the 2nd production year added Bronze, Copper, Bronzium & Brass chromium alloy options. Next they added Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange, Purple, Black, White & Brown. Not long after that they added the option of custom colors, for an additional 10-30% to the cost.

Option: SFS Overlord Ion Engines, Cost: 200,000 credits, Space: 9, Atmosphere Speed: 400; 1,150. Replaces original KSE engines.

Capsule: These were never finished nor built by KSE. The 1883 R&D Project & Prototypes were approximately 73% complete when the order to shut down came in 32 BBY. Some engineers made a hobby of copying a set of schematics and tinkering with it as a intellectual exercise, and corporate execs kept tabs on them...
More than a few execs made their own copies of schematics the engineers completed, which they could then sell or barter, discretely ...
When the work crews arrived to scrap the prototypes, they found the berths empty...

Xizor Transport Systems was the first to launch & sell ships of the 1883 class, around 30 BBY, followed shortly by Ubrikkian, Czerka & less reputable shipbuilders throughout the galaxy...

Most of these are built with small to midsize hangars, but can have any option; for a price... Each ship is built to order, and no ship is built without at least a 20% deposit and a payment plan.
