Had a random thought, but I’d like to see what the rest of you might come up with. Here’s the topic:
Name a species that would have a fair chance of taking on an adult Xenomorph, with natural weapons and defenses only. Bonus points if you can think of a sentient one.
And go.

Even without armor, Barabels would still be pretty formidable.

Edit: Creature-wise, nexu and gundarks are pretty scary.

Kryptonians are an obvious answer, I think, given enough yellow sunlight.

I suppose I should’ve been more specific; no super hero aliens.

Good one. That would be hugely dependent on whether or not the Thing could attack and absorb an Alien, or if the two would just be in a continual stalemate.

True, but it remains to be seen how those three would deal with garhkal's point...

Indeed, and any candidate for this would have to somehow be immune to the acid, in addition to having some method of killing the Alien.

My initial thought was the Horta, from Star Trek TOS: silicon-based lifeform that literally eats its way through solid rock by excreting a powerful acid, tough enough to be immune to most personal energy weapons, and fast enough to ambush a human in close quarters. Add to that that their unique biology renders them immune to facehugger attacks and the Alien's tail stinger (which injected a paralytic, and was a factor early on in the series).

What it would come down to would be how the natural acids of the Alien and the Horta interact. If the Alien is vulnerable to the Horta's acid, then a Horta could literally eat an Alien for breakfast...

Technically it absorbs all biomatter, but even if we assume that it could not for some reason, it still could morph into a more dangerous life form to counter the Xeno attack, or make a combo of life forms to gain advantage (more strenght, speed, claws, tentacles ect.). In the direct clash it would suffer some cellular damage because of acid, but it would only result in mass decrease (burned part) but not death of the entire organism. Unlike the Xeno, which would not survive the Thing attacks, as it has no regeneration abilities.

But if we assume that bioabsorbtion works - its clear then who would win.

And from the SW universe my new candidates are:

1) Gorog (Force Unleashed 2)

2) Gorax (Ewoks: Caravan of Courage)

Massive strenght (poor guy sucked through the sink) and immunity to physical attacks. Xeno has no chance of surviving, well maybe in vacuum of space. Wink

How about the Octalus tube creatures from Deep Rising? They were pretty tough to kill and could swallow a xeno whole. They're acidic digestive fluid could give the xenos' blood some competition. At the very least, the tubes could constrict and crush the xeno within.

Ah, yes; Armus, the Skin of Evil.

This is borderline, as he's a unique creature. I was thinking more along the lines of an entire species, but Trek certainly has plenty of higher lifeforms that could snap their fingers (figuratively speaking) and banish the entire Xenomorph species from existence. In its own way, that's even more potent than a superhero alien...

Good one. Man, those things were creepy...

Alien blood definitely seemed to be much more corrosive than what the tube worms used, though. Assuming an Alien couldn't claw its way through the worm's sides, I'd guess that the acid of a crushed alien would probably burn through the worm before the worm could burn through the Alien. And that's assuming a silicon-based lifeform would even be edible to them...
