Just did a browse at my local used bookstore, and they have a Paranoia Boxed Set for $45. If any of you are looking to fill out / complete your WEG collection and support a small business, hit me up here and I’ll help facilitate.

Is it this first edition box set? If so, that's WEG's first RPG and not bad price. Not buying this would be treason!

I eventually did get one of these but I never played first edition.

I have the 2e rulebook too, the edition that I played growing up. I used to have a bunch of modules for it but don't have those anymore.

The cover looks right. The note says the only thing missing is the dice (D20).

Unfortunately, I'm on disability due to a knee injury, and I just had to cash out my entire year's worth of paid vacation for car repairs, so $45 on a used game I don't play is not an expense I can justify. However, others may not be in my position, so I figured I'd put it out there.

I'm sorry to hear about all that. I was just quoting the game. Have you ever played it?

Nope. I didn't discover WEG until 1E Star Wars. My introduction to RPGs was the Palladium system.

It's a dark comedy game in a dystopian future set in a underground complex ran by a Computer who is always insisting on being trusted. All humans are cloned. As a PC you have six lives because when you die you are replaced by the next clone brother with the same stats. You work as troubleshooter rooting out enemies to the computer, such as members of secret society. All PCs are members of secret societies (you choose them in char gen), so you are all the enemy. It's a zany RPG but can be fun if you have some players in the right mood for it. But I only ever played it a few times because it is good for some laughs but not for a whole campaign.

I used to run the first Mongoose version in demos around the city. One convention, people fought over seats to get in on the game.

They wanted to know how I'd bring them back after they died.

I have a buddy who speaks fondly of his memories of Paranoia.
