(OOC: Well here we go)

Thousands of years before the Clone Wars, the Republic found itself at war with the newly revived Sith Order. Under the leadership a pair of fallen Jedi, the Dark Lord Exar Kun and his first apprentice Ulic Qel-Droma, the Sith and their allies waged a terrible war on the Republic and the Jedi Knights. With Ulic leading the forces of the Krath, Kun pretended to still be a loyal Jedi Knight and traveled to Ossus, the home of the Jedi order, to recruit new followers. Lying to the assembled knights, he convinced them he had found ancient Jedi artifacts powerful enough to help the Jedi defeat the dark side forever and to come with him to the fourth moon of Yavin to learn of the ancient ways. Before departing Ossus, Kun killed the ancient Jedi Master Odan-Urr, keeper of an ancient Sith holocron, and took the very item the Master sought to keep from falling into the wrong hands to prevent the Sith from retruning. Once on Yavin IV, Kun gathered his new followers and smashed the Sith holocron so as to release the Sith spirits within to take possesion of the Knights.

Meanwhile, Ulic's forces faced a new threat, the Mandalorian Clans. Lead by Lord Mandalore and seeking a fight for personal honor, the Mandalorians attack the home of the Krath, the Emperess Teta system. Angered by the attacks of the Mandalorians on his armies, Ulic demands Lord Mandalore call off his forces least he be forced to destroy them. However, it is Mandalore who knows which side would win the battle and offers Ulic a chance to win the war between the Mandalorians and the Krath in a battle to the death between the two leaders. It is a battle that Ulic wins and one that results in Lord Mandalore and the Mandalorians swearing fealty to Qel-Droma, thus enlarging the armies of the Sith even more. Soon Ulic leads his Krath and Mandalorian forces in battle, first against the Republic shipyard at Foerost and then Coruscant. But during the Battle of Coruscant, Ulic is unknowingly betrayed by his Mistress, the Krath witch Aleema, who orders a retreat of Krath and Mandalorian forces and lets Ulic get captured.

As the trial of Ulic Qel-Droma begins, Exar Kun sends his new Sith followers off on missions to destroy both the Jedi order and the Republic. On Ossus, as many Jedi depart for Coruscant to witness the trial of one of their own fallen members, word begins to reach the ears of the great Ossus council that the Sith have indeed returned. Worse yet, some are apparently seeking ancient Sith artifacts that could ensure the Sith's victory. Fearing the discovery of these items, the Council calls together a small band of Jedi and non-Jedi for a mission that could stop the Sith from achieving an assured victory. They are brought to the great Jedi library where a Jedi Master is about to explain to them why they have been gathered.

You are escorted into the great library by a young student who looks like she is barely even old enough to be carrying a training saber, much less walking, and lead to a group of comfortable seats before your young escort leaves. Time seems to slow to a crawl as you sit for what seems like forever, waiting to find out why your here. The Jedi look around the library, looking eager to pick up on of the ancient tomes and learn some new ability, while the non-Jedi seem rather nervous to actually be in this place filled with it's arcane knowledge devoted to things normal beings don't understand. Eventually, after what seems like forever, a silver furred Cathar dressed in Jedi robes enters.

"Greeting's gentlebeings. I am Jedi Master Brokket’iri. You have been called together because the Republic needs you to prevent the Sith from getting their hands on an ancient artifact the likes of which we sadly are only just beginning to become aware of. You Jedi," Master Brokket'iri motions towards the assembled Jedi in the group, "were chosen because the council expects that the Sith will not simply send normal troops to find this artifact. If the beings sent to find this artifact are able to use the Force, then the council wants to counter that threat with capable Jedi Knights."

Master Brokket'iri then motions to the non-Jedi in the group. "The rest of you I have personally choosen as you possess knowledge and abilities that I believe shall not only give you an advantage over most of those you may face but shall also make you extremely invaluble to your team. It is my belief that this knowledge and abilities shall make up for your not being Jedi and could perhaps even allow you to accomplish a goal that the Jedi on your team would not be able to do."

The Master then proceeds to produce a small cube. From it emerges an image of a planet, which proceeds to shift to what appears to be ruins somewhere on the planet. "This is the planet Muzara. From what our intelligence has been able to learn, the artifact you are searching for may rest here in the ruins of Kabus-Dabeh. A few years ago Jedi Master Ma'tien sent his student Keval Raffaan to Muzara to settle a dispute between the natives and Republic settlers. Jedi Raffaan has remained on the planet as a keeper of the peace between the two groups. It is my understanding that he may know where to find the Kabus-Dabeh ruins and thus I am sending you to him to find the ruins.

Are there any questions?"

(Translation: ...and if this is so important, why not send a Jedi Master along as well"?)

to Be'aal Zay'buub

"We had considered sending a Master alone to take care of this mission. However, as we have begun to get word that some strange events have occured with a few of our Masters apparently vanishing under mysterious circumstances, we must be forced to accept the fact that it is perhaps because they are Masters as to why they have vanished. So far their disappearances have occured at their homes. Our suspicion is that they may have either been captured or lured away from their homes by the Sith due to their importance to the order. It is my belief that if they have been lured from there homes it is because the Sith believe one or more of these Masters may know the location of this artifact.

"Also, our sources suggest the Sith have yet to realize the artifact they are looking for may well be on Muzara. If they are indeed watching Jedi Masters to find the artifact, then our sending a Master to Muzara will undoubtedly alert the Sith as to where they should look. In fact, just sending a group of Jedi would no doubt alert the Sith to Muzara's importance. But a small mixed group of Jedi and non-Jedi would be less likely to draw attention Muzara.

"As for your other question, it does not mater how capable a Jedi is as to whether or not they shall fall to the dark side. It's temptations could even cause the most skilled of our Masters to fall, and perhaps join the Sith. That is another reason why I want you with them, to hopefully prevent them from falling."

Syllri sits quietly taking in all that is said between Master Brokket’iri and the Sullustan. Not wanting to cause friction with anyone was something Syllri Fweess could be considered a master of. Still, he did have questions concerning the mission, and Master Brokket'iri's statements concerning the non-Jedi's purposes for being here. He chose to keep the latter question to himself, as always wanting to avoid conflict.

"Master Brokket'iri?" Syllri raises his hand, "Can you tell us anything about this artifact, what it looks like, or perhaps something of its nature, so that we may know it when we come upon it? Also, will we be required to bring it here to Ossus, or does the council wish the device destroyed?"

The creature at Syllri's feet looks up, and scans the room. When Be'aal starts talking there is a a low growl, although it seems to stop when the Jedi Master speaks.

Brokket'iri settles into a chair beside a nearby table and proceeds to rest his chin on an arm propped up on the table. He scratches his chin as if trying to think of what to say. For a few minutes it seems as if he is staring off into space, the group totally forgetten. Finally, he speaks.

"No Jedi actually knows what this artifact looks like nor what it does. Rumors arose a thousand years ago after the Great Hyperspace War of a Sith talisman that could summon an army of the dead to fight for the one who held the talisman. Still there were other rumors that said that rather than summoning an army of the dead the talisman caused all whom the holder saw to become little more than mindless servants willing to die in order to carry out whatever orders the wearer gave them.

"Yet none of these rumors have mentioned what the talisman looks like. I have had a vision that is very strange to me. Early in the vision the talisman seemed to be a gold bracer worn on the arm made up of intertwined serpents with their fangs bared as if ready to strike. But then the vision changed and the talisman became a jeweled medallion with a pair of Arkanian dragons locked in battle on the face. As Arkania was once within the ancient Sith Empire, it is my belief that it may be a medallion may be what you seek.

"However, you should still be able to detect if the artifact is indeed of Sith origin by it's effect on the Force. All Sith artifacts have a very strong dark side aura, sometimes so strong that even beings who are not Force-sensitive can feel it. The council feels that this artifact shall be just that strong if the Sith believe it would ensure their victory.

"As for if you should destroy it or bring it back to Ossus, as much as I would prefer it be destroyed, it may be for the best if it were brought back to Ossus so the Masters here may decide what to do with it. Some Sith artifacts are to powerful to destroyed by mere Jedi. And some house a dark spirit looking to be released from it's prison and claim a new host."

"Any more questions?" Brokket'iri asks as he eyes Daevon.

Daevon looks to Syllri and then back to the Master and shakes his head.

Syllri ponders the Master's revelations about his visions for a moment.

When he sees Daevon's response and no one else speaks up, he asks, "Could the artifact be a combination of both of these items?"

"It could be. Yet that is something that puzzles me for if that is the case, then why is it that our sources say the Sith are only looking for one such artifact and not two? Could it be that they were seperated? I am not sure of any of this as what we know about the artifact is very limited. In fact we don't even know why it was not used during the Great Hyperspace War. I suspect that the reason for it's failure to be used then may have been due to the fact that there were apparently two Sith factions. One lead by the Sith Lord Naga Sadow and one lead by the Sith Lord Ludo Kressh. Masters Odan-Urr and Ood Bnar both were alive at that time and had the most knowledge on the subject.

"Sadly, Master Urr recently passed away. As Exar Kun was apparently the last to see him alive, from what a couple of Knights have told me, I suspect that he may have murdered Master Urr. We now know Kun is the new Dark Lord of the Sith and I fear he may have been so when last he came to Ossus. And Master Urr had taken possession of a Sith holocron during the Great Hyperspace War which vanished around the time of Kun's visit. Without Master Urr, only Master Bnar can truely tell us if these two factions could have faced enough infighting for one to hide the very thing that could have ensured the other victory in defeating the Republic."

"Has anyone sought council with Master Bnar on this subject?"

(OOC-I'm assuming we don't know where he is perhaps?)

Be'aal looks at Daevon with a slight smile and then returns his attention to Master Brokket'iri.

"Bee-bada-lin-nuaba-badda-ladda-ninballa-bee-badaa-bup. Nib-nabba-labadda-buuta-ninfadda-bee-bada-bin"?

(Translation: "Sounds like we have more than just one problem then. If you have any more visions while we are in route, you'll let us know"?)

"Master Bnar has said very little on the subject, though if you wish to try to seek his advice I am not going to stop you. At this time of day Master Bnar normally holds council in the Gardens of Talla. As a Jedi who has trained here on Ossus, I trust you remember your way to the Gardens of Talla, Jedi Fweess. Remember that they are to the north of Knossa spaceport on the opposite side of the valley the spaceport sits above."

to Be'aal

"Myself or someone else on the council shall try to get word to you if that should occur."
