Minis help me to visualize the scene and think about things like cover and movement. We tend to use integrated movement rather than shoot then move as in the RAW. Unfortunately the minis don't work so well when we aren't physically around the same table now that we play via Skype video. |
I love using mini's too.. gives better imagry of what is going on for combatl. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

I'd have to agree as well. Mini's have especially helped our group in space combat when you have more than two ships involved. It helps the players visualize where they are in relation to other ships and even can help them explain to the GM just exactly what crazy maneuver they are going to try. |

I dislike minis, maps, and any form of prop... but I find that they help my players, some of whom are visual learners, immensly- to the degree that I've put together a 3D flight-sim miniature rigs to allow us to do starship battles in rough 3 dimensions. _________________ Star Wars: Marvels, the audio drama: www.nolinecinemas.com

For rules sets, I've thrown inexperienced players right into the Starfell module, using 2R&E and they seemed to adapt just fine. I think D6 in general is a simple and easy system to use.
I'll play SAGA or even the older d20 versions, I've never had a problem with character creation or rules, but I doubt I'll ever run those systems again; D6's ability to facilitate improvisation and freedom of play is unparalleled as a GM (at least in my mind).
I do use minis at times, but only if I think they'll enhance a scenario. Most of the time I'm fine with a rough sketch or even just a description. It really depends on the tone and complexity of the encounter and what I'm attempting to accomplish as a GM. |
