While I will be attempting to do the research myself, but I was hoping for the community's assistance. I was hoping to compile a list of resources we have listed on the site, so instead of having to hunt through all the threads and/or posts buried within the forums, we can create a "one stop shop" for players/gamemasters to use. Example categories below. What do you think? Is it worth the effort and something people would make use of?

<table><tr><td>
Character Sheets:
  • example link #1
  • example link #2
  • example link #3
  • ...

Templates:
  • example link #1
  • example link #2
  • example link #3
  • ...

Droids/Equipment:
  • example link #1
  • example link #2
  • example link #3
  • ...

Ships:
  • example link #1
  • example link #2
  • example link #3
  • ...

</td><td>
Force Information:
  • example link #1
  • example link #2
  • example link #3
  • ...

Planets:
  • example link #1
  • example link #2
  • example link #3
  • ...

Gamemaster Information/Material:
  • example link #1
  • example link #2
  • example link #3
  • ...

Other items:
  • example link #1
  • example link #2
  • example link #3
  • ...

</td></tr></table>

It sounds like an idea. Part of the problem is that a lot of the files we toss around don't have permanant hosting, but are often put on things like yousendit.com.

However, if you want to do this, you could take a look at Krapou's site, and http://www.roleplayersdirect.com . I'd be willing to help, but not for another week or so when my schedule calms down.

Yup, I'm willing to host just about anything. Of course, there's always D6 Universe too!

I think that would be a TREMENDOUS help-especially to newbies who are not yet familiar with how the Pit is laid out.

Of course, playing devil's advocate, that might then rob them of the experience of exploring the site and finding these goodies out for themselves. But, speaking as one who has utilized these resources shamelessly, this would also be a great help to those of us who have computer problems and end up losing files.

Well, I already began to do such a thing some time ago (although I don't think I already have all the files from the Pit). I updated the site recently.

Just look at http://krapz.free.fr

Note that I would be grateful to anyone helping me to list the missing files Smile

Good idea. If the item does not contain copyrighted material, etc. I think that is a valid suggestion.

For now, I need to get myself up to speed on all the great fanwork that I have missed over the years. I was hoping just to start with a list of the various resources you guys have pulled together such as character templates, ships, weapons, Force powers, locations, etc. Unfortunately "real life" has yet again drawn my attention from SW RPG. I hope to get this done at some point down the road.

That is awesome! Are the files hosted the "latest and greatest" versions? This is why I wanted to just get a gathering of links to the various threads here on the forums of the files in question. That way a person can hopefully find the most recent copy.

Perhaps there is another way to help clean up the forums... Each "book" has its own thread that the author follows a unified template in the first post, and keeps it up-to-date with which version number they are on, etc. We do have so much information, that it is overwhelming to even begin to sort through.

I do have other ideas to organize/clean-up the forums a bit, but they would of course need to be approved by Loc before implementing. He always preferred the forums to be a pretty loose structure with general categories setup. I tend to be more structured in my forum setup... LOL! Laughing
