Which i cannot ever agree with not giving a dsp. The road to hell is paved with good intentions and sometimes necessity is taking the lesser evil over the greater one (eg taking that dsp rather than letting a bigger evil go). |
Which is why one can redeem themselves. |
Through the process of Atonement. It's not easy, but it is a viable player option. _________________ Hotaru no Hishou; a messageboard about games, friends and nothing at all.

If a dark side player wants xp all they have to do is get a darkside point witch is as easy as using any darkforce power. GMs beware. |

Which makes the redemption all the harder. _________________ __________________________________

True but power gaming becomes allot easier and redemption is still possible.
A scaling system might work, for example if you have 1 dark side point you must commit an act worthy of 2 dark side points in order to qualify for a second point and so on. |

That gets into a kind a game that I wouldn't want to run. Part of the fun of Star Wars for me is that it has clearly defined morals. Running a dark side game where a player is murdering, torturing, or just plain doing evil for a good portion of the time and then having some redemption at the end just doesn't sound enjoyable.
I know that the strictly defined morals isn't something that isn't as widely embraced anymore, but it's one of the things that I think gives the real flavor of Star Wars.
I just don't usually enjoy power gaming, and I don't usually enjoy dark side games. _________________ __________________________________

I like the idea of being able to play Dark Side... but like you I also don't like the evil for evil's sake sort of gaming. I do enjoy manipulative or simply selfish Dark Side concepts. Using Darkness as an excuse for destruction is just weak It's possible to have a very dynamic and interesting dark side game (or just character), but most are not mature enough to play them, imo.
Though I do like Dark Side characters (in a limited fashion), I also quite like the black and white morality of earlier interpretations of the Force (ie. WEG). Because most players (imo) aren't capable of responsibly playing Dark Side, I like the idea of GMs taking fallen characters away if there's no indication of seeking redemption, or if there is failure to redeem. _________________ Hotaru no Hishou; a messageboard about games, friends and nothing at all.

If the are willingly going that far to the dark side, i find it hard to see them getting redeamed.. unless of course luke comes a callin' 8) _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |
