hiya everyone. one of my players wants to be an Iridonian. i cant find any stats/info (not listed) for them in any of the GG's or Alien books, not listed in Grys stat book, not on d6holocron. the only mention i can find on them is in Wookieepedia-

Iridonian

the planet of Iridonia is the Zabrak homeworld. is my player getting confused with zabraks and iridonians or are they a seperate species?

You should probably clarify which one he wants to play: an Iridonian or a Zabrak from Iridonia.

I handle things this way:

I bring up the Alien Stats pdf and inform my player that if they can find stats for the race in that book, then they can play as one! Timeline permitting.

And yes, Maul was a Zabrak.

Yes, look up Zabrak in Wookieepedia. In the first few sentences, it states that Zabrak are from Iridonia, although I have heard them referred to as Iridonian Zabrak. Your player is the one who has it confused, not you.

Yea, basically Knights of the Old Republic described Zabraks as Iridonian.

Essentially think of it like this. Iridonian are Zabraks from Iridonia.

So it is like saying (in a Sci-Fi setting where humans have colonized other moons or planets) that earthlings are humans from earth as opposed to humans from say Luna, Mars, or Alpha Centauri.

Exactly. Darth Maul was initially stated to be an "Iridonian" from "Iridonia", and then later another source contradicted that by stating his species was "Zabrak". So they reconsiled the contradiction by stating that the Zabrak is a species that is well spread throughout the galaxy with many colonies, so Zabrak from the original homewaolrd of the species are sometimes referred to as Iridonians.

So all Iridonians are Zabraks, but not all Zabraks are Iridonians.

Iridonians, yes Zabraks. They're industrial (information tech) so their exports tech is Iridonian, like Iridonian Battle Armour and the like, but the species is Zabrak. Some will refer to any Zabrak as an Iridonian, it's perfectly natural as all Zabrak are originally from Iridonia.

Zabrak however are near-human species. Tens of thousands of years ago Republic Scouts made planetfall and some mixed with local species and produced the Zabrak. This only happens on worlds that either have hominid species or upon which colonies have existed long enough for complex evolutionary adaptation (eg. Miraluka).

So "Iridonian" could refer to some other species of which we are unaware. This would not be unheard of. Zabrak maybe an adaptation in which case no other species is involved. In any case the term "Iridonian" means nothing other than "from Iridonia" which Zabrak indeed are.

In particular Zabraks can exceed human limitations when being determinedly single minded. Their lower minimums/same maximums for attributes means that more attributes can be higher in die than for a human, but at greater penalty to other abilities.

Means they can give a nasty surprise if you don't carefully assess one.
