My dad lives in Kentucky, and he got his first shot of the vaccine this week. He is supposed to go back for the second shot in a few weeks. Kentucky may have more shots per capita or a better distribution system than Ohio, because I haven't heard anyone I know in Ohio of a similar age and heath say they've gotten the first shot yet.

My wife lost her sense of taste Thursday morning. We got her tested yesterday, and we're waiting on the results. We've been able to keep her isolated the last couple of days.

Oh no. Praying!

In good news, my mom and dad are getting their first round of vaccine today.

Still no test results on the wife. There's no change in her condition either, which is at least good that it's mild.

If she ended up having covid, I hope she didn't get/doesn't have/won't get any severe symptoms. And either way I hope her sense of taste came/comes back.

In sad news, the mother of a college friend of mine died from covid. Sad

I'm really sorry to hear about your friend.

Currently my wife is still sick, but not dangerously ill. She's still on isolation protocol. Thursday she felt like she might be on the upswing, but Friday she kind of crashed again and didn't really get out of bed.

My mom experienced this, too, where she would get better then worse more than once while the disease ran its course.

Ordered to take the test on Monday. Had it taken yesterday. Self-Isolating.

As if I needed to get even less social...

Here's hoping I'm negative.

My wife is finally recovering, and is now out of isolation. It's been a wild ride.

ADMIN EDIT

CDC: COVID-19

So I just found out that the CDC website (which I linked to here) was reviewed by the current administration and it found that some of the covid guidance placed there under the previous administration not grounded in science or free from undue influence. Some guidance "used less direct language than available evidence supported," "needed to be updated to reflect the latest scientific evidence" and "presented the underlying science base for guidance inconsistently." Additionally, the review identified that there were also forgeries on the website: three documents not primarily authored by the CDC were presented as CDC documents.

I doubt many people got their pandemic info through the Rancor Pit, but I just wanted to be responsible and put a link there since the pandemic was being discussed here. The website has been updated, so I thought it would be responsible to mention it. FYI.
