The second latest MCU film, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, came to Disney+ tonight. It and several other MCU movies had IMAX-format versions dropped on Disney+ today, which means a fuller image with smaller black bars on the screen. Shang-Chi takes place some time after Endgame, but it has not yet been established if it takes place before or after Spider-Man: Far From Home.

My family watched Shang-Chi tonight. My first reaction is that it is decent. Some of the action scenes are really entertaining. The plot is pretty formulaic (the winning MCU formula). That is usually overwhelmed by nostalgia, but in this case I have no childhood connection to the characters so the formula was more noticeable. At this point I would rate Shang-Chi in the bottom half of MCU films (but it is definitely better than GotG2). Maybe I will like Shang-Chi more the second time I watch it.

The latest MCU film, Eternals, is in the theaters now but my family has no interest in going to the theater for that so we will wait for that to come to Disney+. I doubt Eternals will have any connection to Spider-Man: No Way Home next month.

I've returned to the theater for two movies since TRoS. Both movies were in the very top back row, so no one was behind or above me.

I saw the last James Bond film, No Time To Die by myself. It was very good, the best Bond film since Casino Royale. It ties all the Daniel Craig films together, and it's a good way to close out the current series.

My son, wife, and I saw Spider-Man: No Way Home. It was also a pretty good movie. It had a few editing/continuity issues but otherwise it was well done. It very creatively tied into the first five Spider-Man films.

The Eternals comes to Disney+ on January 12th. After we see that, we will be caught up on the MCU again.

We'll eventually see Shang Chi and the Eternals, but we're in no rush. It might be a few months...years....

We saw Spiderman: No Way Home at the theater last week. We REALLY enjoyed it. Nostalgic, funny, and very sad. Maybe it won't hold up on multiple viewings, but for a 1st time viewing, it blew my socks off.

I have seen No Way Home twice in the theater and I really enjoyed it both times. There is a very good blend of action, excitement, story line, and emotion in the movie. It is an all around great movie and I would recommend it to anybody who hasn't seen it.

Eternals was a snoozer. It features 10 newly-introduced, unageing characters with superpowers fighting a lot of monsters. It has no connection to any other MCU movies; it only name dropped Avengers. I have no personal connection to the comic book premise of the characters so there isn't even a nostalgia factor like with the most of the other MCU films. I may have liked Eternals more than Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, but not by much.

Shang Chi had some cool fight scenes and dragons–It was definitely better. Eternals feels like a recent years X-Men production Marvel Studios developed only because they didn't have the rights to X-Men at the time it was green lit. It even has a character so blatantly ripped off of Superman that they joke about that in the film. Eternals is bottom of the barrel for MCU.

I never posted about the Disney+ series Hawkeye. Humor and some really cool action. I remember thinking one episode was kinda meh, but the rest were pretty good.

I had already seen the first and recently watched the second Venom movie. I guess it was ok, but they aren't really my thing.

Last night, they dropped a trailer for the D+ series Moon Knight, staring Oscar Issac. This is a character I liked when I was a kid. Back then he got powers from Egyptian deities, and he was a hero with some serious mental issues. Looks like they may be drawing from the source material. Moon Knight is coming 3/30.

[You may need to go to your browser's Settings and clear your Cache to see the updated version of the below image.]

I've finally got a grip on the post-Endgame chronology, including the Disney+ mini-series. Here is the full proper MCU viewing order:
    ...
    Avengers: Endgame
    Loki
    What If...?
    WandaVision
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings
    Eternals
    Spider-Man: Far From Home
    Spider-Man: No Way Home

    Hawkeye
As I said earlier in the thread, you could skip the first three episodes of WandaVision and not miss anything. The episodes of What If...? seem unrelated until the end of the series that brings it all together. It appears that What If...? is going to be directly relevant to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the next MCU film to come out (in theaters May 4th).

See this post for timeline placement of everything above and more commentary.

And as Marvel fully embraces the multiverse concept, I'll add that Sony's first five Spider-Man movies and its two Venom movies are actually relevant to Spider-Man: No Way Home. And Netflix Marvel is actually relevant to both Spider-Man: No Way Home and Hawkeye.
