ATM, I'm gearing up to do my own version of the larger Vigil-Class Corvette, but because Fractalsponge estimated its small craft complement as 12 TIEs, a Stormtrooper Transport, and a Mu-Class Light Shuttle, I think I'm going to work on those first.

As for the Raider, in light of the sizes involved (the Vigil is 255 meters, the Aiwha is 150, etc), the fix I have in mind is just to increase the Raider's length from 150 to 180-185. |

Looking forward to it!!! |

				Mu-Class Light Shuttle

Images

The Mu-Class Shuttle is the standard light-duty long range shuttle of the Imperial Navy. While lacking the speed, range and transport capacity of its larger sibling, the Lambda-Class, it is also much more compact, and thus able to fit into much smaller docking bays or landing pads.

The ship's hold can be outfitted to carry a variety of different cargo or passenger configurations, with some craft even being fitted out with crew quarters to serve as personal transports. SFS is also rumored to be working on a modified variant of the Mu-Class as a scout ship, sacrificing transport capacity for enhanced sensors and greater consumables capacity.

I'm working up to doing the Stormtrooper Transport, but I'd like the forum's input on something. It's something of a trope that the EU overused the "Delta" designation, applying it to everything from a Capital-Scale troop transport to two different shuttles in the X-Wing games (the Delta JV-7 Escort Shuttle and the Delta DX-9 Stormtrooper Transport). Seeing as how Krennic's shuttle from Rogue One has been officially designated as the Delta-Class, that means several ships are now going to require re-badging to comply with the EU pattern of naming hyperspace-capable shuttles after letters in the Tionese (Greek) Alphabet. I did a post on this a while back, including a list of the known "Greek letter" shuttle types, including a list of the unassigned letters.

I'm inclined to call this ship the Epsilon-Class Combat Transport, but before I get to work on the stats, I'd like to hear from the forum if you think a different letter is a better fit. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. I'm not seeing an Epsilon. Out of the Greek letters not used already, I think Tau-class Stormtrooper Transport or Tau-class Transport would be a better designation. _________________ *

Tau is good. But I'm hesitant to call it a Stormtrooper Transport, since that would (nominally, at least) lock it into serving with just stormtrooper units. "Storm Shuttle" maybe? _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. It's not just a Troop Transport, though; it's more like a combination of the LAAT/i and an Assault Shuttle. And since it has a hyperdrive, that's why I was thinking Storm Shuttle, as it can perform both Air Assault operations (ala the Larty) and assault boarding ops, and do so at a distance. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. Actually, after having slept on it, I'm thinking I'll stick to the more traditional route and simply call it a Tau-Class Light Assault Shuttle. I like the idea of a "Storm Shuttle", but I may just end up including it as an unofficial designation for filler in the background write-up. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. Tau-Class Storm Shuttle

Images

Telgorn's DX-9 Tau-Class Storm Shuttle was developed for Imperial service both as a replacement to the aging Republic-era LAAT/i and to fill a niche as an assault shuttle for smaller naval vessels lacking the deckspace required for the larger Beta-Class. As such, the Tau can be found in a wide variety of uses across the galaxy, from single-vessel detachments aboard corvettes to full squadrons or wings aboard larger star destroyers.

The Tau is heavily armed and armored, and capable of carrying up to two squads of troopers, or a mix of troops and vehicles. It has even been used to carry small detachments of Spacetroopers when Gamma-Class shuttles are unavailable or not required. It also features four separate boarding hatches - one front, one rear, and one on either side - as well as dorsal and ventral docking rings. It carries a formidable weapons array of laser cannon, ion cannon and warhead launchers, and can mount additional infantry support weaponry at the boarding hatches (although these can't be used when the hatches are closed). The Tau's biggest weakness, however, is that all of its weapons are focused in the front fire arc. Combined with the ship's low relative maneuverability, this renders the Tau vulnerable to attacks from the rear. As such, Tau's generally deploy with escorting fighters.

I get spacetroopers taking up the space of two passengers, but I'm trying to envision how speeder bikes only take up the space of one passenger. _________________ *

I picture speeder bikes being somewhat compactible (foot pedals fold up, handle bars fold down, etc.) so 2-3 speeder bikes stack on top of each other.

EDIT: Or maybe even tipped vertically up against the walls, so that no seating rearrangement is necessary; a bike parked on its tail would take up just as much square meterage as a seated human. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. Vigil-Class Star Corvette

Images

The Vigil-Class Star Corvette was designed in competition with Seinar Fleet Systems' Marauder-Class to meet a Navy requirement for a mass-produced light combatant that could perform a variety of different missions, including independent patrols, fleet escort and skirmishing. While not as heavily armed as the Marauder, the Vigil had superior speed and sensors, and ultimately won the contract.

Easily the largest corvette in the Imperial Navy, the Vigil would normally be classed as a Frigate under the Anaxes System, but was instead classed as a Star Corvette due to its armament and endurance. It has proven to be a highly versatile and capable light warship, whether operating independently patrolling the space lanes, or serving alongside other corvettes in Imperial Navy Skirmish Lines. Indeed, the Vigil often serves as a flagship for formations of Aiwhas or Raiders, with its powerful com-scan array allowing it to coordinate with the other, lighter vessels, and its fighter squadron providing valuable support.

While the Vigil is seen almost exclusively in Imperial service, a small number of craft have defected to Alliance service. However, due to the unique design of the Vigil's fighter bay, it can't accommodate any of the Alliance's medium or heavy starfighters, and is instead limited to either Republic-era designs like the V-Wing, or to captured or surplused TIE fighters.

Indictor-Class Reconnaissance / Electronic Warfare Corvette

Images

The Indictor is a joint project for the Imperial Navy and Imperial Intelligence. The ship's classification is something of a conundrum; at 262 meters in length, the Indictor should be classed as a Frigate, yet its relatively fragile hull and light armament put it squarely in the Corvette range. Ultimately, however, it was designated as a Corvette.

Designed as a dedicated reconnaissance and electronic warfare platform, the ship's sleek, angular form is packed with some of the most advanced electronics ever deployed by the Empire, allowing it to monitor huge areas of space. Unfortunately, this capability comes at a price, as Indictor is by far the most expensive craft of its size in existence. In addition to the ship's extensive and powerful com-scan and electronic warfare arrays, the Indictor is also equipped with powerful stealth systems, including an advanced sensor mask, baffled hull plating, and other sophisticated systems.

Indictors are generally deployed alone to monitor areas known for illegal activity, whether Fringe or Rebel Alliance, or on special detachment to Imperial Intelligence, eavesdropping on worlds with suspect loyalty. Very occasionally, Indictors are also deployed to provide EW support to groups of Raiders.
